Internet Systems Engineer
Position Title: Internet Systems Engineer

Reports To: Director, Systems Engineering
If you’re passionate about technology, put your hands on skills to the test while you install and maintain redundant, high performance, routing and packet filtering systems, core network infrastructures, network load balancing technologies, enforcing security policies while ensuring compliance with all corporate security directives. You’ll also perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and other engineering related tasks on production and development servers, always ensuring integrity and recoverability. This is a 24/7 on call position.
Come leverage your 5 to 7 years of experience working with the installation, configuration and management of a Windows/Linux/BSD hybrid network environment. This is a chance to make a smart career move while performing daily maintenance on our production servers to ensure optimal performance. Use your troubleshooting and performance tuning skills to iron out network and systems problems, while you manage the core network environment.
Job Duties:
- Install, Upgrade, Monitor, and Maintain core networking equipment
- Investigate, Troubleshoot, and resolve problems with networks, server applications, and hardware
- Maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages, hardware and software
- Monitor system logs, activity, and performance on all servers and devices
- Configuration management and automation of tasks
- Second tier point of contact for internal personnel
- Report and maintain IT inventory needs for purchase
- Document resolutions in knowledgebase for future reference
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 5-7 years progressive systems support in fast-paced data center and production environments
- Experience with Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, IIS, MS SQL Server, WSUS, RIS, and ISA
- Experience with OpenBSD as a routing platform utilizing technologies such as BGP, OSPF, and CARP
- Experience with OpenBSDs’ PF (packet filter) stateful firewall in redundant setups
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting site-to-site VPN technologies from Cisco and OpenBSD
- Experience with layer 3 redundant switching infrastructures from vendors such as Cisco and Foundry utilizing technologies such as VLAN, RSTP, HSRP, and Trunking
- Knowledge of high-availability, clustering, and load balancing concepts with hands on experience with systems such as Microsoft Network Load Balancing, Microsoft Clustering, Linux Virtual Server, Foundry ServerIron 4G, Heartbeat 2, Keepalived, and other similar technologies
- Experience with the setup and maintenance of monitoring tools and applications such as: SNMP, Nagios, Cacti, MRTG, RRDTOOL, Netflow and related technologies
- Experience with the following open source technologies: Linux (Debian based preferred), Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Subversion, Request Tracker, OpenSSL, Lighttpd, Nginex, Cfengine, Puppet, SugarCRM, DRBD, and LVM
- Experience in Xen based virtual environments and other virtualization technologies such as VmWare and Hyper-V
- Scripting experience in VBS, PowerShell, PERL, PHP, and other related languages
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and technical skills
- Available for 24/7 planned & unplanned maintenance
- Committed desire to work in fast paced environment with a sense of urgency and a positive attitude
- Industry certifications from vendors such as CompTia, Cisco, and/or Microsoft
